For Teams & Organisations

Self-Belief, Development & Progression in the Workplace

Supporting people to strengthen the self-belief, self-trust, clarity and resilience that influence how they perform, develop and progress at work.

Opportunity Is Only Part of the Picture

Organisations can provide training, development opportunities, mentoring, career pathways and opportunities to progress.

But how people see themselves can influence what they do with those opportunities.

An employee can be highly capable and still second-guess themselves. They may hesitate to speak up, underestimate their strengths, struggle to make career decisions or hold back from opportunities they are ready for.

Over time, these internal barriers can affect not only confidence, but development, performance, wellbeing and progression.

Recent UK workplace research reinforces the importance of addressing both sides of this equation. The 2025 Race at Work research found that lack of confidence and lack of clarity about career direction sit alongside lack of opportunity as significant barriers to career progression. Ethnically diverse employees were also more likely to report experiencing barriers to progression.

Creating opportunity matters. So does helping people develop the internal foundation to recognise, pursue and make the most of it.

A Different Approach to Workplace Development

At Be Some Boddie®, development starts from within.

Training can build knowledge and skills. Policies can create structures. Mentors and sponsors can open doors.

But beneath what a person does sits something deeper: what they think, feel and believe about themselves.

Those internal beliefs can influence:

  • whether they trust their judgement

  • how they communicate and contribute

  • whether they pursue opportunities

  • how they respond to challenge and change

  • whether they recognise and articulate their strengths

  • how they see themselves developing, progressing and leading

Our approach is grounded in the Mindset First® Model: Thoughts → Feelings → Words → Actions

Drawing on psychological understanding, spiritual principles, reflective practice and practical application, Be Some Boddie® helps people strengthen the internal foundations that influence how they show up and move forward.

Because Self-Belief is foundational. Confidence is situational.

Training and Development Areas

Workshops and programmes can be tailored to the needs of employees, teams and organisations.

Self-Belief at Work

Helping people understand how self-belief influences behaviour, decision-making, communication and the way they approach opportunities, challenges and change.

Career Clarity & Progression

Supporting employees to recognise their strengths, develop greater clarity about what they want and strengthen the self-trust required to take intentional steps towards development and progression.

Professional Confidence & Self-Trust

Supporting people to reduce unnecessary second-guessing, trust their judgement and contribute with greater clarity and consistency.

Mentoring, Sponsorship & Development Readiness

Helping employees develop the self-awareness, clarity and personal agency to engage more intentionally with mentoring, sponsorship, coaching and development opportunities.

Emerging Leadership & Professional Identity

Supporting people as they move into greater responsibility, strengthen their professional identity and begin to see themselves differently as they develop and lead.

Resilience, Self-Awareness & Reflective Practice

Helping individuals understand their thinking patterns and emotional responses, navigate pressure and challenge, and respond with greater awareness and intention.

Supporting Equitable Progression

Be Some Boddie® has a particular commitment to supporting Black women and men, including those of African, Caribbean and Black mixed heritage.

Research continues to show that experiences of progression are not equal across the workplace. The Race at Work research found ethnically diverse employees more likely than White employees to report barriers to career progression and highlights the importance of accessible mentoring, sponsorship, coaching and career development.

Our work does not replace an organisation's responsibility to identify and remove structural barriers, create fair opportunities or build inclusive workplace cultures.

It addresses another part of the progression equation: the person experiencing the workplace.

We help individuals strengthen self-belief, self-trust, clarity and personal agency so they are better equipped to recognise their potential, engage with development opportunities, use their voice and take intentional steps towards progression.

This work can support wider organisational development as well as targeted initiatives for Black employees and other employee groups.

A Note on Approach

This is not about telling capable people that they simply need to be more confident.

And it is not about placing responsibility for organisational barriers onto the individuals experiencing them.

Be Some Boddie® works on the internal dimension of development: helping people understand the beliefs, thinking patterns and emotional responses that can influence how they see themselves and how they act.

Organisations create the conditions and opportunities for people to progress.

We help strengthen the person stepping into them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Every organisation is different. Here are answers to some common questions about working with Be Some Boddie® for workplace training and development.

What types of organisations do you support?

Be Some Boddie® can work with organisations across the private, public, voluntary and community sectors.

This may include employers investing in employee development, local authorities, education and health organisations, social care services, charities, community organisations and organisations delivering leadership, early-career or workforce development initiatives.

We can also support employee networks, mentoring and sponsorship initiatives, graduate and apprenticeship programmes, and targeted development programmes.

The starting point is not necessarily the type of organisation, but the people and outcomes you want to support.

What areas can your training and development support cover?

Training and development can be tailored to your organisation's objectives and may include:

✨ Self-belief at work
✨ Career clarity and progression
✨ Professional confidence and self-trust
✨ Mentoring, sponsorship and development readiness
✨ Emerging leadership and professional identity
✨ Resilience, self-awareness and reflective practice
✨ Communication and personal agency
✨ Team and workforce development

The focus is not simply on providing more information. It is on strengthening the internal foundations that influence how people apply what they know, respond to opportunities and move forward.

Is the support tailored to our organisation or team?

Yes.

Every organisation, workforce and team has its own context, challenges and objectives. A consultation allows us to understand what you are seeing, who you want to support and the outcomes you want to achieve.

From there, we can consider the most appropriate format and focus, whether that is a one-off workshop, facilitated session, targeted employee initiative or structured development programme.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach.

Can training and development be delivered online or in person?

Yes.

Support can be delivered:

✨ In person
✨ Online
✨ Through a blended or hybrid approach

Delivery can be adapted according to your organisation, location, audience and objectives.

Sessions are designed to be engaging, reflective and practical, helping participants connect the learning to their own experiences and working lives.

Who is this support suitable for within an organisation?

Support can be delivered at different stages of an employee's development and across different levels of an organisation.

This may include:

✨ Early-career employees, graduates and apprentices
✨ Employees preparing for career progression
✨ Practitioners and frontline employees
✨ Emerging leaders
✨ Leadership and management teams
✨ Employee networks and resource groups
✨ Participants in mentoring or sponsorship programmes
✨ Cross-functional teams and wider workforce development initiatives

The appropriate audience will depend on the outcomes your organisation wants to support.

Do you only work with Black employees?

No.

Be Some Boddie® can provide workplace development for employees, teams and organisations more broadly.

However, we have a particular commitment to supporting Black women and men, including those of African, Caribbean and Black mixed heritage, and recognise that people's experiences of work, opportunity, identity and progression do not always occur in the same context.

Organisations may therefore commission Be Some Boddie® for whole-workforce development or for targeted initiatives supporting particular employee groups.

Can you support Black employee networks or targeted development and progression initiatives?

Yes.

Our work can complement initiatives designed to support the development and progression of Black employees, including employee networks, emerging leadership programmes, mentoring and sponsorship initiatives and targeted professional development.

The focus of Be Some Boddie® is on the internal dimension of development — strengthening self-belief, self-trust, clarity, personal agency and readiness to engage with opportunities.

This does not replace an organisation's responsibility to identify and address structural barriers or create fair and accessible opportunities for progression.

Is this diversity, equity and inclusion training?

No.

Be Some Boddie® is not an equality, diversity and inclusion consultancy, and our work does not replace specialist EDI, HR, employment law or organisational policy support.

Our expertise is self-belief and personal development.

We work with the internal beliefs, thinking patterns, self-perception and emotional responses that can influence how people communicate, make decisions, approach opportunities, respond to challenge and see themselves developing and progressing.

This means our work can complement an organisation's wider inclusion, talent development, mentoring, leadership or progression strategy without replacing it.

Can your work complement existing mentoring, sponsorship or leadership development programmes?

Yes.

Mentoring, sponsorship and leadership programmes can create valuable opportunities for learning, advocacy, exposure and progression.

Be Some Boddie® can work alongside these initiatives by helping participants strengthen the self-awareness, self-belief, clarity and personal agency needed to engage with those opportunities intentionally.

For example, this may include helping participants articulate their aspirations, recognise their strengths, ask meaningful questions, respond to feedback, pursue stretch opportunities and develop the internal readiness for greater responsibility.
